Haus Shop

On the corner of 18th and Jackson St in Omaha’s Flatiron District, you’ll find Haus Shop, a modern lifestyle boutique, nestled among the brick and stone facades.  Haus Shop is an apparel, apothecary and home goods store founded by Sarah Backhaus in 2017. Sarah began her small business journey three years ago and she recently opened her Flatiron location this month! 

This carefully curated shop includes an evolving mix of local and designer pieces.  You’ll find apparel, stylish home accessories, gifts, and personal care items. When selecting pieces for the shop, Sarah chooses items that feature soft, natural tones and a simple, elegant look. 

Finding the perfect setting for her new location was important to Sarah. She told us “I was excited about the small business revival that is happening in downtown Omaha and the Flatiron District was at the center of so much of this growth.”  Sarah said she fell in love with the historic nature of the Freiden Building that houses her new location. Large windows and vintage architectural details merge effortlessly with the light and airy feel of the shop. 

While renovating, Sara paid homage to the historic nature of the building by adding color accents that matched the original finishes she found. Sarah also added subtle, non-traditional accents including reversed quarry tile on the shop’s interior walls. The building’s historic features, Sarah’s use of non-traditional materials and the clean lines of the shop combine to create an environment that is subtle, stylish and warm.

Haus shop offers an experience that traditional and on-line shopping cannot provide. Browsing the shop’s carefully curated selection of goods and visiting this beautiful storefront location in the heart of Omaha is an experience that we highly recommended.
